Couple charged with murder in drug-related death of their Winston Heights roommate

Calgary police have laid murder charges against two people in connection with the death of a man whose body was found two days after it's believed he was killed.

Allen McCabe, 32, andMegan Springstead, 33, each face a charge of first-degree murder in the death ofMahmoud Ahmid Aburashed, 58.

Police believe the motive is connected to a drug debt.

Springstead and McCabe were dating. Police say the couple lived with Aburashed.

Aburashed's body was discovered in a Winston Heights home in the 400 block of 28th AvenueN.E. around 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 15.

Police have not released how he died.

Springstead's lawyer ToniiRoulston says her client was arrested Friday and will next appear in court on Jan. 6.
