Impaired Carstairs man busted driving twice the speed limit through fog

A Carstairs man is facing charges after police clocked him going twice the speed limit, while under the influence of alcohol in foggy weather Saturday night, police said in a statement.

A Carstairs man is facing charges after police clocked him going twice the speed limit, while under the influence of alcohol in foggy weather Saturday night, police said in a statement.

The 36-year-old was caught around 6:30 p.m. driving northbound at 202 km/h on Highway 791 north of Highway 72 northeast of Airdrie.

The speed limit in that area is 100 km/h.

Police say it was foggy at the time and the suspect made several traffic violations before being pulled over.

The man is facing impaired and dangerous driving charges and will be scheduled to appear in an Airdrie court room soon.
