Charge stayed in one-punch death of Brian Ludwig

The Crown has stayed a manslaughter charge against a man accused of killing a 41-year-old Calgary man with one punch during an altercation outside a Calgary pub in 2012.

Man originally charged with manslaughter will not go to trial

A charge of manslaughter has been stayed against a man accused of killing anotherin an altercation in 2012.

Scott Hooser, 27, was originally charged in the death of Brian Ludwig.

Ludwig died following a fight outside a pub in the city's southwest in August, 2012. The 41-year-old man was the father of two children.

Witnesses said Ludwig did not start the fight and fell after being punchedonce.

The manslaughter charge against Hooserhas now been stayed. His lawyer said there was insufficient evidence to proceed to trial.
