Chestermere RCMP hand out 'positive' tickets to teenagers

This summer, Chestermere RCMP will be handing out 'postive' tickets teenagers spotted doing good in the community.

This summer, RCMP in Chestermere will be keeping a very close eye on teenagers.

But they won't be watching for bad behaviour.

Instead, they plan to hand out tickets to 13 to 18year oldsthey spot doing something "positive."

"We're looking for young people who are obeying the rules of the road and showing their peers that they can drivesafelyand still be cool," saidChristy Redl,one of theorganizers of the Chestermere Positive TicketProgram.

That means coming to a full stop at a stop signand obeying speed limits in school and playground zones, says Redl.

RCMP are also looking for non-drivers who are doingin the community, such as picking up litter and wearing their helmets when cycling.
