Child dies after being pulled from Lake Bonaventure

A young child has died after falling into the water at Lake Bonaventure on Tuesday morning, CBC News has confirmed.

It's not known how long the child had been under water

A young child has died after falling into the water atLake Bonaventure on Tuesday morning, CBC News has confirmed.

Emergency crews were called to the lake in the city's southeast just after11 a.m., saidCalgary Fire Department spokesperson CarolHenke.

She said family members or bystanders were performing CPR on the 15-month-old when emergency crews arrived within two minutes of the call to 911 dispatchers.

Calgary fire spokesperson Carol Henke said emergency crews were on scene within about two minutes of the 911 call, and that family and neighbours were already performing CPR on the child, believed to be about 15 months of age. (CBC)

Emergency crews continued resuscitation efforts as they took the child to hospital.

It's not known how long the child had been under water.

"I can't even begin to know what this family is going through right now,"Henkesaid.
