Cocaine seized at Alberta border crossing

A man and woman from Peace River, Alta., have been charged with attempting to smuggle cocaine into Canada.

A man and woman from Peace River, Alta., have been charged with attempting to smuggle cocaine into Canada.

Canada Border Services Agency said Thursday that two kilograms of cocaine were seized at the Coutts, Alta., port of entry on Sunday.

The CBSA said two people were referred for further examination at the crossing, at which time officers found a compartment in their vehicle containing four bundles of suspected cocaine.

The cocaine is worth an estimated $200,000, according to the CBSA.

Jacob Fehr, 35, and Aganetha Fehr, 34, were charged with importation and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

They will appear in Lethbridge court on Jan. 31.

The CBSA said it was the third drug seizure at Coutts, which is about 100 kilometres southeast of Lethbridge,so far this year.
