The family of a teen who Calgary police say was the victim of homicide will hold a vigil Sunday evening in the city's northeast.

Colton Crowshoe, 18, was found dead in a water retention pond on Thursday afternoon after being reported missing on July 4. His family members say police officers didn't take their initial reports of his disappearance seriously and dismissed their pleas for help.

Members of the public are invited to attend the candlelit vigil, which will be held at the Abbeydale Community Centre.

A poster created for the vigil says the event will focus on praying for justice and answers about what happened to Crowshoe.

The Abbeydale Community Centre is located at 821 Abbeydale Drive N.E., Calgary, Alta.
