Multi-vehicle Deerfoot Trail crash sends 2 women to hospital, snarls traffic

A multi-vehicle collision on Deerfoot Trail near Peigan Trail sent two women to hospital and snarled traffic early Wednesday afternoon.

A multi-vehicle collision on Deerfoot Trail near Peigan Trail senttwowomen to hospital and snarled traffic early Wednesday afternoon.

The collision happened around 2 p.m. andinvolved at least four vehicles, said Carol Henke with theCalgary Fire Department, which dispatchedtwo engines to the crash site.

EMS spokesman Adam Loriasaid twowomen, both believed to be in their 60s,were injured in the collision and transported to hospital in non-life-threatening condition.

(Initially,EMS hadsaid just one woman had been taken to hospital but later revised that to two.)

Calgary Transportation said northbound traffic on Deerfoothas been reducedto the two right lanes as emergency crews deal with the crash.
