Ed the Sock pairs with Calgary charity to collect 1,000 socks

A Calgary women's group is working with Ed the Sock to collect 1,000pairs of socks for the Drop-In Centre.

"I always stand up for the little guy because you know I'm only about 10 inches," saidEd the Sock.

A cigar chewing, tough-talking commentator on the news, politics andentertainment, Ed the Sockwas a populartelevision personality in the '90s.

"I saw them on Twitter and volunteered to help because, well, you don't see a lot of charities or anything else that involves themselves with socks," Ed the Sock told CBC News about Work Together For Fun (WTFF) Women.

Debbie Newman of the Drop-In Centre says morethan25 per cent of their residents report sore or hurting feet, and they are always lookingforclean pairs of socks bothnew or used.
