Emmanuel Kahsai fit to stand trial in deaths of mother and her client

Emmanuel Kahsai has been found fit to stand trial in spite of bizarre rants during previous court hearings. The 30-year-old man is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his mother Selma Alem and second-degree murder in the death of Julie Tran.

Emmanuel Kahsai has been found fit to stand trial in spite of bizarre rants during previous court hearings.

The 30-year-old man is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his mother Selma Alem, and second-degree murder in the death of Julie Tran.

The two womenwere found dead in the home in October.

Kahsaihas ranted about conspiracies in earlier court proceedings and refused to be assessed bydoctors at the Southern Alberta Forensic Psychiatry Centre.

Today he was found fit to stand trial and a preliminary inquiry has been set for November.

Alem had sought court protection against her son in the months leading up to her death, saying she was afraid of him.
