Somerset station reopens after man on tracks killed by CTrain

Regular service has resumed on the Red Line of the LRTafter a man in his 40s was struck and killed by aCTrain in southwest Calgary early Tuesday morning.

It happened shortly after 4 a.m. at the Somerset-Bridlewood station, which is the last stop on the Red Line, police say.

"He was obviously a pedestrian," said Sgt. Steve Campbell of the Calgary Police Service. "We're unsure at this time why he was on the CTrain tracks."

No further information about the victim has been released. The incident is stillunder investigation.

Somerset station wasclosed for several hours asshuttle buses took riders from Somerset to the Shawnessy and Fish Creek stations. Calgary Transit tweeted at about 10:30 a.m. that normal service had resumed.
