Fire ban initiated in MD of Foothills

There's a fire ban in effect south of Calgary in the Municipal District of Foothills and Longview.

The ban suspends all current fire permits, requires all outdoor fires currently burning to be extinguished and prohibits lighting any new fire. Also covered under the ban are fireworks.

Industrial facilities and industrial sites approved by the fire chief are exempt from the ban.

No fires will be permitted "until all areas in the MD of Foothills and the Village of Longview receive substantial moisture and approval is received to life the fire ban."
