68-year-old Calgary man missing since late June found dead in wooded area

Kelly Flock, the 68-year-old Calgary man who had been missing since June 22, was found dead on Thursday night, police have confirmed.

Kelly Flock, the 68-year-old Calgary man who hadbeen missing since June 22, was found dead on Thursday night, police have confirmed.

"A beautiful, kind and gentle soul has left us," his brother, Brad Flock, told reporters on Friday.

"We were devastated to learn this morning our beloved father, brotherand dear friend, Kelly Flock, has passed away.The outpouring of support and generosity of everyone who helped is a testament to the man he was... To the thousands of volunteers out searching and the hundreds who showed up at the vigil last night, we thank you."

Officers were called to a wooded area in the southwest community of Britannia at about 9:45 p.m. Thursday, after area residents spotted what they thought was a body.

Police and firefighters searched the woods and found the remains.

The chief medical examiner's officeconfirmed Friday the body is that of Flock.

Police said his death is not considered suspicious.

His family and friends had continued to hold out hope up to Thursday night, when they held a candlelight vigil, which began less than an hour before police were called to the Britannia woods.

Around 100 people attended the eventat the Marda Loop Communities Association, near where Flock had been last seen.
