Police lay arson charges in Calgary fire that destroyed house under construction

A Calgary man faces numerous arson-related charges in connection with two suspicious house fires in southeast Calgary last month.

A Calgary man faces numerous arson-related charges in connection with suspicious house fires in southeast Calgary last month.

An early morning fire destroyed an under-construction home and severely damaged a neighbour's residence in the 200 block of Legacy Mount in the southeast neighbourhood of Legacy on Nov. 2.

A third house fire was set nearby in the 200 block of Legacy Glen Way.

Cody Omer Doucette, 30, of Calgary, has been charged with three counts of arson with damage to property, as well as one count of arson with disregard for human life in connection to the two fires in the 200 block of Legacy Mount S.E., police said in a release on Thursday.

No charges have been laid in connection with the third fire.

Doucette was set to appear in court on Dec. 19.
