Lethbridge-area homicide victim identified

A man shot to death in Shaughnessy, Alta., earlier this month has been identified as Mauro Alonso Hernandez-Renteria, 25.

The Calgary medical examiner's office has positively identified Hernandez-Renteria through the use of fingerprints, the RCMP said in a news release.

Hernandez-Renteria had been living in the Picture Butte-Shaughnessy area north of Lethbridge, Alta. when he was shot on Oct. 13, RCMP said.

Police responded to the scene after a call came in at 1 a.m. complaining of shots being fired at or near a Shaughnessy residence. When RCMP arrived, they discovered blood andthe body.
