Loretta Saunders's former roommate wanted on Alta. warrants

The former roommate of a missing Halifax woman is wanted by Alberta RCMP on two outstanding warrants.

Blake Leggette, 25, is wanted on warrants for possession of stolen property and possession of marijuana. He had been scheduled to appear before a Drumheller, Alta., court on April 16, 2013, but failed to appear.

Leggette is currently facing several charges in connection to the disappearance of Loretta Saunders in Halifax.

According to Saunders's boyfriend,Yalcin Surkultay, the Saint Mary's University student went missing after trying to collect rent money from her new roommates, Leggette and Victoria Henneberry, 28.

The pair had moved in with Saunders a month earlier after connecting through Kijiji, but apparently had not yet paid rent.

Earlier this week, Saunders'scar was found in Harrow, Ont., south of Windsor.

Police in Ontario have charged Leggette and Henneberry with possession of stolen goods and fraud.

Police told CBC News a fraud charge against Leggette is connected to the use of Saunders's bank card.

Text sought bankinginformation

Last week, Surkultay said he got a text from Saunders's cellphoneasking him what her mother's maiden name was.

The text, received on Feb. 14,read: Im so stressed that I cant like even remember my own mothers maiden name.

However, Surkultay said that struck him as suspicious.

Its not possible, Surkultay told CBC News.

She said she was stressed and locked herself out [of her] online banking and she needed money, but it didnt really make sense to me I couldnt make sense out of it, like why would she be stressed out all of a sudden?

Saunders, an Inuk woman from Newfoundland and Labrador, was writing her thesis on missing and murdered aboriginal women.
