Canmore man caught in Golden avalanche Sunday dies from injuries

A 64-year-old Canmore man, who was part of a group of 13 skiers caught up in an avalanche on Esplanade Mountain west of Golden, B.C., on Sunday has died, police confirmed Thursday in a release.

A 64-year-old Canmore man, who was part of a group of 13 skiers caught up in an avalanche on Esplanade Mountain northwest of Golden, B.C., on Sunday has died, police confirmed Thursday in a release.

The man was one of two skiers critically injured of seven that were sent to various hospitals for treatment.

The Canmore manis the second avalanche-related death during that weekend.

30-year-old Nick Roberts, a member of the Calgary Fire Department died Saturday in an avalanche in the East Quartz Creek area, also in the Golden area.
