Maverick, aSiberian husky, was rescued in October after spending his entire 11-year life in a southern Alberta puppy mill.

He was skittish and in poor health, and ran off after just a few weeks at his new home, sohis new owner islooking for help finding him.

"He had virtually no contact with people so consequently he's scared of them he was probably the most fearful dog I've ever come across in my life," said owner Wendy Innes. "I was starting to make progress with him."

Inneswas out for a walk with Maverick about five weeks ago in northwest Calgary when the clasp on the leash broke and the dog took off.

She said she followed him around McEwan and Hidden Valley for hours that day until she lost sight of him.

"Every time I tried to get him to come back he'd get further and further away from me," she said. "I've been looking for him ever since."

Maverick's been spotted a number of times since then, but recently there have been no leads and Innes says he may even be in rural Alberta by now.

"He's not in the best of health, he needs to go to the vet, and I had an appointment to take him to the vet but I wanted him a little more settled," she said.

Innes is asking anyone who's spotted the dog to share the location, time and direction the husky was travelling on a Facebook page she's set up to track sightings.
