Jason Behr was playing ball with his dog Wednesday evening when he suddenly heard a "clomp, clomp, clomp" behind him.

The Calgary resident turned to see not onebut two moose running toward his yard on the other side of a fence, fortunately in the northwest community of Tuscany.

"They came right up to my fence," he said. "When I turned around and saw them I pulled out my camera and they walked off."

The mother moose had jumped into a neighbour's yard, Behr said, but the youngster couldn't follow, so the mom hopped back onto public property and approached his fencebefore the pair headed across a nearby road and into a patch of trees.

The encounter happened near 12 Mile CouleeRoad, across fromBlue Ridge Estatesa residentialarea at the city's northwest periphery that has seen its share of wildlife before.

In 2014, a rare grizzly sighting prompted a warning for people who live in the area to keep their kids and pets indoors.
