Calgary police charge officer with off-duty assault in road rage incident

Anofficer has been charged with assault and driving without due care and attention after a motorist was punched in an apparent road rage incident in August, Calgary police said Thursday.

Anofficer has been charged with assault and driving without due care and attention after a motorist was punched in an apparent road rage incident in August, Calgary police said Thursday.

The incident happened on Aug. 30 at about 6 p.m.

"A road-rage incident occurred between two drivers in the northeast community of Skyview," police said in a statement. "A verbal altercation occurred, which escalated with one driver striking the other. 911 was called and police responded to the scene."

Const. Lisa Bischkewas charged Tuesday. Bischke has been with the Calgary Police Servicefor seven years.

She was off duty at the time of the August incident. It wasreported to the Alberta director of law enforcementbut investigated internally by Calgary police.

The 42-year-oldis on administrative duties until a further review is complete.
