Check out these stunning shots captured by photographers who weren't deterred by the deep freeze

Sure, Alberta has been in the grips of a prolonged cold snap. But a little subzero weather didn't stop intrepid Calgary residents from venturing out to snap photos of some stunning winter wonderlands.

Alberta has been in the grips of a prolonged cold snap over most of this holiday season thanks to an icy arctic weather system that's brought frostbite warnings and kept most people indoors.

But the frigid temperatures and fresh snow also inspired someCalgary residents to venture out long enough to snap some really pretty pictures.

And many people were kind enough to share them with CBC Calgary via Instagram and other social media.
