Three pedestrians have been struck in two days on Calgary streets, with suspects fleeing in two cases.

Calgary police say pedestrians need to be extra vigilant on busy roads after three pedestrians were hit by vehicles in the city over the last two days.

"The light turns green, what do they do? They step off the curb and away they go," saidConst.Jim Lebedeff. "They don't look left, they don't look right anymore. They've got the buds in their ears. They're texting while they're walking."

Police sayit's also getting dark sooner as winter approaches so it will betougher for drivers to spot pedestrians.

The second hit-and-run incident on Calgary streets in as many daysleft a man in hospital in stable condition.

The latest crash happened just before2 a.m. MT Thursday at the intersection of40thStreet and Richmond Road S.W.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

Police are looking for a pickup truck with a grey cab.

There were threefatal hit-and-run cases last year in the city, but police say they havealready investigated four so far in 2013.

Two pedestrians were also killed in separate incidents on Wednesday.

Police chargeda woman in connection with a fatal hit and run that left a 26-year-oldman dead in Forest Lawn early Wednesday morning.

A man was also struck by a vehicle that morning in southeast Calgary as he tried to cross Douglasdale Boulevard and Douglas Woods Way S.E. He later died from his injuries.

The driver stayed at the scene to be interviewed by investigators. Police said driver inattention played a role and that charges are pending.
