Prostitution stings lead to 36 people charged in Calgary

Two different prostitution stings in Calgary have led to charges against 36 people.

Two different prostitution stings in Calgary have led to charges against 36 people.

The first happened in late March and involved a four-day operation focusing on "known strolls" in the Beltline and the Forest Lawn Industrial area. That lead to 32people charged with obtaining sexual services for consideration.

A second sting in June resulted in four men charged with communicating for the purposes of attaining sexual services from a minor.That operation targeted online services involving under-aged girls.

"Prostitution is a very complex issue requiring a collaborative approach amongst law enforcement and social service agencies," said police in a press release."Enforcement efforts focus on reducing consumer demand by targeting the users of sexual services."
