A Red Deer man and woman are facing charges after a purse-snatching spree that sent a woman to hospital with serious injuries, police said in a release Monday.

A woman had her purse stolen while she was walking in the parking lot of a strip mall at 39th Street and 40th Avenue around 4 p.m. Sept. 8.

A female suspect jumped in a waiting Ford F-150 truck, red in colour. While trying to get the purse back, the victim was dragged behind the vehicle and sufferedserious but non-life-threatening injuries that were treated in hospital.

Police noticed the incident was similar to two other purse thefts, one earlier on Sept. 8 and another Sept. 7. All three involved a stolen red F-150 truck.

Police found the suspects Friday after a chase using police dogs.

A 28-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man had their first Red Deer court appearances Monday facing a variety of charges including robbery with injury, motor vehicle theft and obstructing a police officer among others.
