Suspect arrested after violent road rage attack in Red Deer

Mounties have arrested a suspect in a road rage incident involving gunfire in Red Deer, Alta. The 23-year-old man was taken into custody without incident Thursday afternoon at a residence in nearby Blackfalds.

Mounties have arrested asuspect in a road rage incidentinvolving gunfirein Red Deer, Alta.

Mitchell Thomas Huber, 23, was taken into custody without incident Thursday afternoon at a residence in nearby Blackfalds.

He was wanted on 10 warrants in connection with the incident on the evening ofAug. 17.

The incident happened at the intersection of 57th Avenue and Kerry Wood Drive after a man got out of his car and confronted a motoristwho had been driving aggressively, RCMP said in a release.

The motorist pulled out a handgun and fired a shot, hitting the victim's car. The suspect then fled the scene.

No one was injured.

The suspect's truck was later found, on fire, on Township Road 400 north of Blackfalds. It wasextinguished by firefighters.

The truck had been reported stolen from Whitecourt.Its licence plate had been stolen separately from Whitecourt, RCMP said.

Investigators quickly identified the suspect as Huber, who was thought to be in the Red Deer area. The RCMP went public Thursday morning with a request for information on his whereabouts.

Huber faces 10 Criminal Code charges including discharging a firearm with intent, careless use of a firearm and other weapons charges, possession of stolen property and failing to comply with previous court-imposed conditions.
