Road rage led to shots fired at other driver, Calgary police say

Calgary police are looking for a suspect after a motorist shot at another driver during a road rage incident Wednesday morning in the citys northwest.

Calgary police are looking for a suspect after a motorist shot at another driver during a road rage incident Wednesday morning in the city's northwest.

At around 8:10 a.m. Wednesday, police received calls from drivers in the area of Stoney Trail and Nose Hill Drive N.W.reporting a road rage incident. They also reported seeinga firearm and hearing gunshots, police say.

Investigators say they believe the incident began on Stoney Trail N.W. involving a white Chevrolet cutaway van and an older model black Hyundai Santa Fe SUV.

After turning onto Nose Hill Drive, the drivers got into a verbal altercation and the manfrom the SUV shot at both the van and the driver of the van, police say.

The driver of the van ducked when he saw the gun pointed at him, and his window was shattered, which caused minor injuries, police say.

Following the second shot, police believe the suspect got out of the SUV and fled on foot. Police later found the Hyundai Santa Feabandoned.

The driver of the van called police to report he had been shot at and was involved in a road rage incident. He was brought to hospital with minor injures.

Policesay the SUV driver faces charges of attempted murder, pointing a firearmand discharging a firearm with intent.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Anthony Gregory Favell, 22.

He is reported tobe about five feet eight inches or shorterwith a heavy buildand blondor light brown hair.

Police are warning the public not to approach him if they see him.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footageto contact police.
