Southeast Calgary crash being investigated by ASIRT

Two men are in hospital and another is in custody following a three vehicle crash in Calgary's southeast. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has taken over the investigation because one of the drivers fled from police before the crash.

Two men are in hospital and another is in custody following a three vehicle crash in Calgary'ssoutheast.

Police say they were called to a suspicious vehicle in a Douglasdale parking lot just before noon Thursday.

Upon arrival, witnesses pointed officers to a vehicle that was speeding away. The officers in a marked cruiser tried to pull over the truckbut the driverfled.

The officers did not pursue, but the truck went through a red light at 130th Avenue and 46th Street where it T-boned a car and hit a third vehicle.

A man and a woman ran away, but the man was later taken into custody. The woman has not yet been located.

The two people in the car were taken to hospital in serious condition.

The passengers in the other vehicle were also taken to hospital as a precaution.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has taken over the investigation.
