Up to 20 cm of snow for parts of southern Alberta, Environment Canada warns

A narrow corridor reaching from Clearwater County through southern Alberta to the US border could see up to 20 centimetres of snow Friday afternoon, according to a snowfall warning from Environment Canada earlier in the day.

A narrow corridor reaching from Clearwater County through southern Alberta to the American border could see up to 20 centimetres of snow Friday afternoon, according to a snowfall warning from Environment Canada.

Here's the latest Alberta weather.

"The snow will intensify late in the afternoon andbecome heavy at times tonight," the agency said an advisory issued Friday morning.

"Snowfall will start to abate from north to south Saturday morning, with total accumulations of 10 to 20 cm expected."

Travel in the affected areas could be difficultdue to reduced visibility, the agency warned.

As of about 8 a.m. MT, affected communities includedCanmore, Cardston, Claresholm, Crowsnest Pass, Fort Macleod, High River, Nordegg, Okotoks, Pincher Creek and Waterton among others.
