Prince Charles vs. Prince William: Who should be the next King of England?

When it comes to royal tours, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have never been able to get quite the same reception as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. So, should the queen just skip over her son and bequeath the throne to her grandson? Our Unconventional Panel weighs in.

When it comes to royal visits, the public just doesn't give Charles and Camilla the same rock star reception as Will and Kate.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with their children, have been getting a lot of love since they launched their tour of western Canada on Sunday.

The Duchess of Cambridge greets well-wishers upon her arrival in Vancouver, B.C., Sunday, Sept 25, 2016.

"The same amount of people would show up if KimKardashiancame to Calgary," said bloggerMike Morrison, a member of this week's UnconventionalPanel. Also on the panel this week was the CEO of West Canadian IndustriesGeorge Brookman as well aslibrarian and actress Sharon Olsen.

"Have you heard the click of cameras out there in Vancouver? Click, click, click," said Oslen, whostrongly feels that Queen Elizabeth should just skip over her son and bequeath the throne to her grandson.

She said Will has "the charm, the character and the charisma" and therefore, rules need to be broken.

Not a popularity contest

Despite Will and Kate's like-factor,Morrison and Brookmanboth wantto Prince Charles to be the next King of England. Notonly because it's hisright, but becausethe poor chap has been waiting for that momentlonger than any other heir in British history.

"If there's one thing I know about the monarchs is they love rules," Morrison said."Prince Charles, he's been waiting his turn and so William has to wait it out."

The following is an edited version of some of Morrison's and Brookman's banter onthe CalgaryEyeopeneron Wednesday.

B: "I wish his mother would step down. How long can you hang on for heaven's sake?"

M: "She has the DNA of stone. She's not going anywhere.

M:"Does he even want to be king? Right now it seems like William is having a great time travelling the world.

B: "Oh sure he does. That's like somebody saying do you really want to own aPorsche?
