World Economic Forum to be hosted in Lake Louise

Alberta will play host this spring to a World Economic Forum on energy and climate change.

Alberta will play host this spring to a World Economic Forum on energy and climate change.

The event, to be held April 24-25 in Lake Louise, will bring in more than 100 global leaders from the worlds of business, academiaand government.

The 44thannual general meeting of the World Economic Forum is being held now in Davos, Switzerland. Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi and Alberta Premier Alison Redford are both at the event.

Resolutions and ideas from this conference will be used to help drive discussions at the United Nations Secretary General Leaders' Summit in New York in September.

The meeting will also discuss work Alberta is undertaking in energy and environmental policy.

The province has been singled out by some critics world for the polluting and climate changing effects of its oilsands operations.

This is the first time Alberta has hosted a World Economic Forum event.
