75 homes evacuated in northern Alberta hamlet after gas leak

A gas line rupture that forced residents from 75 homes in Fort McKay, a community north of Fort McMurray, Thursday, has been repaired.

A ruptured gas linethatforced residents from 75 homes in Fort McKay, a community north of Fort McMurray, Thursday, has been repaired.

Residents were allowed back into their homes before 4 p.m.

An ATCOspokesperson said theline was ruptured by a third partynear the new Riverside care facility.

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo says its emergency crews responded to the rupture and temporarily blocked access into the community as a precaution.
