Bowden Institution inmate dies in hospital Sunday

An inmate at the Bowden Institution died early Sunday morning in hospital, the Correctional Service of Canada says.

An inmate at the Bowden Institutiondied early Sunday morningin hospital,the Correctional Service of Canada says.

Emergency services were called to the prison at around 10 a.m.

Cody Adams, 34, was taken to the hospital, where he died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, the Correctional Service of Canada said in a media release.

Since May 2016, Adams was serving a sentence of about two years and five months for trafficking property obtained by crime, forcible confinement and break and enter with intent.

His family has been notified of his death.

The Correctional Service of Canada is reviewing the circumstances of Adams'sdeath and will contact police and the coroner "as required." The agencyoffered no more details.

BowdenInstitutionhas both mediumand minimum-security inmates, who are housed in direct observation living units or residential houses.

Themedium security site hasa capacity of 470 people.Theminimum security site accommodates 130 people.

It's located around 100 kilometres north of Calgary on Highway 2.
