RCMP won't link remains with missing owners

Human remains have been located in the wreckage of a house destroyed by fire near Castor, Alta., on Dec. 8th.

"Investigators advise today that non-identifiable human remains were located within the fire debris," said RCMP Sgt. Josee Valquette. "Those remains were transported to the Medical Examiner's office in Calgary for examination."

The owners of the home, Gordon and Sandi Klaus, and their adult daughter Monica Klaus are still unaccounted for.

Valquette said Mounties will not link the remains with the missing people.

"We don't know, at this point, how many sets of human remains were recovered in the debris," she said.

Valquette would not say where in the home the remains were discovered or if they were found in more than one location inside the house.
