Condensate leak near Manning, Alta.

Plains Midstream Canada has shut down a pipeline and activated emergency response procedure following a condensate release on its Kemp pipeline system.

The leak happened about 90 kilometres northwest of Manning, north of Grande Prairie.

The Kemp system comprises 79 kilometres of pipeline that transports condensate and other natural gas liquids produced as byproducts is processing natural gas.

In a release made Saturday, the company says it is not yet known what caused the leak, and that no estimate of the volume of liquid released is available.

Plains Midstream has notified the ERCB and local authorities about the leak, and says response personnel is en route.

The leak comes just two weeks after a pipeline belonging to Apache Canada released about 9.5 million litres of contaminated water in northwest Alberta.
