Iveson, 9 councillors seek re-election in next Edmonton election

Mayor Don Iveson will seek re-election in Edmontons municipal election in 2017 along with nine other incumbent councillors.

Mayor Don Iveson will seek re-election in Edmonton's municipal election in 2017 along with nine other incumbent councillors.

"That's my intent," Iveson said in response to a tweet from Dave Cournoyer of daveberta.ca saying he will run again.

Ivesonwon the mayoral racewith 62 per cent of the vote in 2013 and will seek a similar victory next year.

According to the city's notice of intent under city elections, nine other incumbents will be seeking re-election in addition to Iveson as of Nov. 3:

  • Ward 1 Coun. Andrew Knack
  • Ward 2 Coun. Bev Esslinger
  • Ward 3 Coun. Dave Loken
  • Ward 6 Coun. Scott McKeen
  • Ward 7 Coun. Tony Caterina
  • Ward 8 Coun. Ben Henderson
  • Ward 10 Coun. Michael Walters
  • Ward 11 Coun. Mike Nickel
  • Ward 12 Coun. Moe Banga

Nomination papers are still available until March of next year. The next municipal election is slated for Oct. 16, 2017.
