The 2018 Grey Cup will be played in Edmonton.

A league source says the Alberta capital has been awarded the CFL championship game.

An official announcement will be made Monday at Commonwealth Stadium.

Edmonton has hosted four Grey Cups.

The last time was in 2010 when the Montreal Alouettes defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders 21-18 before 63,317 fans at Commonwealth.

Eskimos superfan Matthew Machadocan't wait for Edmonton to host its fifth Grey Cup game in the same year that Commonwealth Stadium will mark its 40th anniversary.

"It's great for the fans, it's great for the city, it's going to pump some much extra needed revenue into downtown and party on, it's going to be great," Machado said Friday.

"We're going to show everybody that Edmonton is the CFL party central. We are the place to be and there is no other place no other team, and no other place that you want to be fromthan Edmonton."

The 2017 Grey Cup will be held in November in Ottawa.
