Premier Jim Prentice isnt as popular with Albertans as he was three months ago, according to a new poll done by Angus Reid.

Two-in-five or 43 per cent of Albertans said they approved of the job Prentice is doing, seven points lower than December 2014,when about half of those surveyed thought the Alberta premier was doing a good job.

Prentices slight drop in popularity comes during tough economic times for the province following a significant drop in oil prices and threats of a bad news budget on the horizon.

Despite Prentices dip in approval ratings, he is tied as the second most popular premier, with Nova ScotiaPremier Stephen McNeill. Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall continues to be the most approved-of premier in Canada, drawing favourable approval from two-thirds of people surveyed.

The Angus Reid Institute analyzed the results of an online survey done by 6,278 Canadians between Feb.26 and Mar.6, 2015.The data was donated by Vision Critical.

A probability sample of this size carries a margin of error of 1.2 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
