Poppy fund theft suspect charged in Edmonton

A man is facing numerous charges after a string of poppy fund thefts in Edmonton leading up to Remembrance Day.

A man is facing numerous charges after a string of poppy fund thefts in Edmonton leading up to Remembrance Day.

Police are crediting the public for calling in with tips after police released images from a security video.

A thief made off withpoppydonation boxesfrom four different locations convenience stores and gas stations in north Edmonton on Nov. 9and 10, police said.

Last weekpolice said as much as $400 may have been taken.

James Trevor Hollar, 25, was arrested and charged Tuesday with four counts of theft under $5,000 and four counts of possession of stolen property.

He was also arrested on three outstanding warrants and faces five charges of breaching probation.
