Six more COVID-19 cases reported at Hamilton schools

Five more peoplein the local public school board and one more student in the Catholic board have tested positive for COVID-19.

Five more peoplein the local public school board and one more student in the Catholic board have tested positive for COVID-19.

One staff member at C.B. Stirling Elementary School was confirmed as having the virus on Friday, after a student had tested positive earlier in the week. There is no link between the cases, according to the school, so no outbreak has been declared.

An employee atDr. Davey Elementary School also tested positive. Students and staff listed as close contactshave been asked to self-isolate for 14 days.

There were also three students across the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board who were reported as having the virus on Friday.

The case at Glendale Secondary school has no student or staff close contacts. They also weren't in the building when there would have been a risk of exposure, says the school.

No outbreak will be declared, says a letter to families, because there wasn't a link to previous cases.

A student atEastdale Elementary School, and a student at Frank Panabaker North Elementary School were also reported as having the virus on Friday. Close contacts have been asked to self-isolate.

In the Catholic board, astudent at St. David Catholic Elementary School tested positive. They were last in the building on Dec. 7.

Any students who are required to self-isolate, says the school, will be contacted directly by Hamilton Public Health Services.

There are currently 19 students and five staff with the virus in the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, according to its database.
