Police have charged a second Hamilton man with dangerous driving causing bodily harm after a crash last month that sent three people to hospital with broken bones.

Emergency crews were first called to the scene of a crash at Queenston Road East and Kenora Avenue on March 18.

According to a police news release, a black 2008 Maserati was going at a high rate of speed on Queenston when it struck a Mercedes Benz SUV being driven by a 24-year-old Hamilton man.

The Maserati then left the road and slammed into two hydro poles, before hittingthe SUV a second time, police say.

"The driver of the Maserati fled the area on foot leaving his injured passengers behind," Hamilton police said in a previous statement.

All three passengers in the Maserati were taken to hospital with broken bones, police say. The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene.

The Maserati driver was arrested on the day the crash happened.

Police announced Monday that the driver of the Mercedes, a 24-year-old Hamilton man, is now also facing three charges of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
