Crews rescue woman who fell at Chedoke Falls

The woman fell about six metres and injured her head, wrist and ribs.

Emergency crews have rescued a woman who fell about six metresat Chedoke Falls on Friday afternoon.

The 22-year-oldwoman received minor head abrasions, as well as possible wrist and rib fractures, says Ian Sinclair, operations supervisor with Hamilton EMS. She fell around 2 p.m.

Fire officials did a rope rescue, entering the area from Scenic Drive, said Claudio Mostacci, spokesperson for the Hamilton Fire Department.

"We're lowering two rescuers down to her so we can lift her up," he said.

Neither Sinclair nor Mostacci knew what the woman was doing when she fell.

This is just the latest in a year of people falling at Hamilton's waterfalls.

Among the notable incidents:a man in his 20s was rescued after falling at Webster'sFallson Aug. 9. Eightdays earlier, crews rescued a man who fell ninemetres, also at Webster's Falls.

In June, a Toronto man in his 50s died after falling at Albion Falls, a few months after 21-year-old Corey Dixon fell and was severely injured at the same falls.
