Man, 24, dies after falling from Dundas Peak

The 24-year-old victim was sitting with a friend shortly before 11 p.m. when Hamilton police say he lost his balance while standing up and fell off the edge.

Police say they don't consider the death to be suspicious.

Emergency crews spent about 90 minutes searching before they were able to locate the man. They eventually found him in a heavily wooded area and pronounced him dead at the scene. (Jeremy Cohn/CBC)

Police say a man fell to his death after slipping off the edge of Dundas Peak in Hamilton on Friday night.

The 24-year-old victim was sitting with a friend shortly before 11 p.m. when Hamilton police say he lost his balance while standing up and fell off the edge.

His body was removed from the bottom of the cliff on Saturday morning with the help of emergency responders.

Police say they don't consider the death to be suspicious.

They urged the public to "always remain on marked trails, stay behind any safety barriers and refrain from going out on trails when visibility is reduced."

The peak has long been a popular local destination.
