TheHaldimand-Norfolk Health Unit (HNHU) says itsonline vaccine appointment booking tool is down, but it is still vaccinating people and booking appointments.

The system has been down for at least two days.

HNHU states while it is working to fix the online booking system, residents should only leave a single voice message when calling thevaccine hotline (519-427-5903).

"Staff are continuing to return resident phone calls and book appointments for eligible individuals. The vaccine line is receiving up to 1,000 calls per day, and callbacks are being completed as quickly as possible," the health unit said in a release.

People eligible to get vaccinated includes anyone 65 and up, and residents withhigh-risk health conditions.

HNHU states anyone who fits either category should wait for the booking system to be fixed or call, but only leave a single message.

It also says anyone aged 60 to 64 should add their names to a wait listforpotential end-of-day appointments (due to cancellations, no-shows and other reasons).

"Eligible individuals will only be contacted if there are available doses at end of day at the various clinic locations," said the health unit.

Residents 55 and older can also register to get theAstraZeneca vaccine at local pharmacies.

HNHU states22,797 vaccines have been administered to residents and additional clinics have been scheduled to meet the demand for appointments.
