Man dead after being thrown from vehicle in Haldimand County: OPP

OPP investigators have determined the vehicle was heading west when it left the road and hit the the ditch, and the driver was ejected.

A man is dead, police say, after he was thrown from single-vehicle crash in Haldimand County.

Emergency crews were called to Haldimand Road 20 in Fisherville at6:21 a.m. by a passer-by who noticed an orange Jeep Wranglerin a field that appeared to have been involved in a crash, according to provincial police.

The man was found a short distance away from the vehicle with life-threatening injuries, say police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The OPP say their investigators have determined the vehicle was heading west when it left the road andhit the ditch, and the driver was ejected.

Haldimand Road 20 was closed for several hours between Haldimand Road 12 and Concession 7 Road while emergency crews remained on scene. The road re-opened around noon.

Officials say the identity of the man killed in the crash is not being released until his next of kin are notified.
