3 escape house fire in Glanbrook costing $830K and damaging neighbouring homes

Two adults and a child are safe after they got out of a house fire in Glanbrook Saturday night, says Hamilton Fire.

The call came in at 11:19 p.m. for a house fire on Blackburn Lane.

Public information officer Claudio Mostacci told CBC Newswhen crews arrived on scene, they found flames coming from the second floor of the house.

Firefighters went inside and started to search and rescue, he said, becausethey weren't sure if anyone was home at the time.

As it turned out, two adults and a child were home, but they all managed to escape.

Damage to neighbouring homes

According toMostacci, crews were inside attemptingto fight the flames, but the ceiling became unstable and started falling. He says firefighterswere pulled out so they wouldn't get trapped.

"It just became hazardous for them to be inside," he said. One firefighter had to receive treatment for a heat-related injury, but he went right back to his duties.

Mostacci saiddamage to the home is estimated at$830,000.

A neighbouring house also suffered damage to its vinyl exterior, estimated at $6,000, he added. And another house has $3,000 worth of damaged shingles.

The Ontario Fire Marshall's Office has been notified to assist with determining the cause of fire.
