Man dies after being found 'lying in his driveway suffering from a gunshot wound,' police say

A 24-year-old man, Hamilton police say, has died after being found "lying in his driveway suffering from a gunshot wound."

Victim has been identified as 24-year-old Sheydon Storer, a Hamilton resident

A 24-year-old man, Hamilton police say, has died after being found "lying in his driveway suffering from a gunshot wound."

Police say they were called to the area of Upper WentworthStreet and Mohawk Road at about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

They say the man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as Hamilton residentSheydon Storer, according toDet. Sgt. Jason Cattle of the Hamilton police.

"We have been in touch with his family. They are obviously griefstricken," Cattle said.

Cattle said there is no information on suspects available at this time, but confirmed that it was a homicide and that the shooting took place at Storer's home address.

"There was no risk to the public at any time. We believe that Sheydon was unfortunately targeted," he said.

Darcy Court, a cul-de-sac near Franklin Road School,was blocked off bypolice tape and cruisers on Wednesday morning.

Officers could be seen scanning the scene.

Police said in an emailthey are searching "for suspects or vehicle descriptions" and "there will be a heavy police presence in the area as the forensics team processes the scene and police canvass the neighbourhood for witnesses and video."

This is the 19th homicide of the year in Hamilton.
