Hamilton releases timeline for when seniors 60 and older can get COVID-19 vaccine

Hamiltonians aged 85 and older will be able to get COVID-19 vaccinations as of March, and the city says they will have many locations to choose from.

Here's the timeline for when other seniors can get vaccinated:

• People 80 and older can get vaccines as ofthe third week of March.
• People 75 and older can get vaccines as of Apr. 15.
• People 70 and older can get vaccines as of May 1.
• People 65 and older can get vaccines as of June 1.
• People 60 and older can get vaccines as of July 1.

Pop-up vaccine sites coming

On Mar. 1, the St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton West 5th COVID-19 vaccine clinic will begin admitting people 85 and older.

Those who have received care at a Hamilton hospital or hospital clinic during the past six months will be contacted with an appointment time. Those who haven't been in a hospital or hospital clinic in the past six months can call905-974-9848, option7, to book an appointment.

On Mar. 3, the mobile clinic will set up pop-up vaccine sites that can be accessed through a scheduled appointment. These locations include:

• Winona: Saltfleet Community Centre.
• Glanbrook Mount Hope: Municipal Service Centre.
• Ancaster: Ancaster Rotary Club.
• Dundas: Dundas Community Centre.
• Waterdown and Flamborough: Harry Howell Arena.

"Additional clinic sites within neighbourhoods [disproportionately]impacted by COVID-19 final sites to be announced in coming days," read the release.

The city adds the Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) fixed-site clinic has been givingsecond doses of vaccineto health-care workers, and on Friday,restarted administering first doses to health-care workers from hospitals and the community.

They can register online to get a vaccine.

The city said it has administered more than 32,925 doses of the COVD-19 vaccine through both the HHSfixed-site, large scale clinic and the mobile clinic. There have been15,275 people fully vaccinated.

The release adds it's expected vaccines will become available for more people in the winter and spring of 2021 and everyone who wants a vaccine will be offered onefree of costby the end of the year.
