Crews rescue woman who tumbled 25 metres at Tew's Falls

More than two dozen firefighters took part in a rope rescue at Tews Falls Sunday, after a woman tumbled down a 25-metre distance.

More than two dozen firefighters took part in a rope rescue at Tew's Falls Sunday, after a woman tumbled down a 25-metre distance.

Claudio Mostacci,public information officer for the Hamilton Fire Department, told CBC News that the woman had been walking with a group of other people when she fell. Another member of the group called 911 at about 4:07 p.m.

The fallinvolved "some free-falling," he said, but the woman tumbled along portions of the cliff before coming to a rest.

Mostacci said that firefighters managed to get her to the top at about 6:19 p.m. She was conscious and talking.

The woman was transported to Hamilton General Hospital.
