Tim Bosma trial: Gunshot residue expert returns to testify

Jurors in the Hamilton trial of two men accused of murdering Tim Bosma will hear more evidence today from a gunshot residue expert.

Tim Bosma was last seen on May 6, 2013, and was missing for more than a week before remains thought to be his were found on an Ayr, Ont., farm owned by Dellen Millard.

Jurors in the Hamilton trial of two men accused of murdering Tim Bosma will hear more evidence today from a gunshot residue expert.

Robert Gerard,aforensic scientist in the chemistry section of the Centre for Forensic Sciences,told the jury Monday that he examined a toolbox that came from Bosma's truck while looking for gunshot residue. The session ended for the day shortly after. A juror suffering a health problem had to leave the court in a wheelchair.

DellenMillard, 30, of TorontoandMarkSmich, 28, ofOakville, Ont., are accused of killingBosma, 32, who lived in the suburbanAncasterarea of Hamilton. Both have pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.

On Monday,a blood spatter expert told court that theevidence from a "bloodletting event"insideBosma'struck points to someone being shot while in the passenger seat of the truck.

Sgt. Robert Jones of Waterloo police told the jurythat blood spatter found on the inside dash of Bosma'struck came from the passenger side area.

Bosmawas last seen on May 6,2013, and was missing for more than a week before remains were found on an Ayr, Ont., farm owned by Millard. Earlier in the trial, the Crown told jurors it is believed the remains belonged to Bosma, though tests have not confirmed that.
