Change is coming to Hamilton but what will it look like? Join our panel of community voices the CBC Hamilton election columnists to discuss what's at stake this election, whose voices may be missing from policy promises or campaign discussions and what the next chapter of this city could look like, depending on the outcome of the vote on Oct. 24.

Panellists

Gavin Stephensis a standup comedian who been featured in Montreal and Toronto's Just For Laughs Festivals, as well as the Cape Town Comedy fest, and Austin's SXSW, has been named one of the "10 Funniest Canadians" by StarTV, chosen as Best Local Stand-up Comic in NOW Magazine's Readers Choice poll and hosts the Uncolonized podcast.

Anabelle Ragsagis co-founder of Filipinas of HamOnt, the 2022-2023 Stephen Lewis Social Policy PhD Fellow at McMaster University's School of Social Work, and studied previously at the University of the Philippines and Carleton University.

Sonia Hillis Mohawk, Lebanese and mixed European, with family ties to Six Nations. They were born and raised in the city and suburbs of Hamilton, are a proud non-binary, femme, two-spirit, urban Indigenous person, friend, partner, aunty, kitty mom, cousin, sibling, neighbour and more. Currently, they are completing a Masters degree in Sociology at McMaster University, are the director of the Indigenous Sustenance Reclamation Network (ISRN) and co-chair of the Indigenous Solidarity Working Group with CUPE3906.

Shayyan Huseinis a Grade 12 student at Orchard Park Secondary School in Stoney Creek, a teen ambassador graduate from Canada Learning Code and an avid sports player.

Mohamad Bsatis a Filipino, Lebanese, and Palestinian first-generation Canadian. He is a staff lawyer practicing within housing and human rights at the Hamilton Community Legal Clinic (HCLC). Mohamad is also an avid runner and is the founder of the running crew Air Up There.
